Confession: When I heard Cole would be written by someone who’s not Gaider, I was a little disappointed. Then I looked it up and found out Weekes took the job. Now I can’t wait to see Cole, I bet Patrick will do a great job!
He absolutely did.
It’s not my Cole, precisely, but I don’t really mind that since Cole ended the novel at a crossroads where he could easily change… and Patrick didn’t take him that far from my Cole anyhow (certainly far less of a distance than between my Anders and Jennifer’s Anders). You’ll see.
Giving up Cole to another writer was not easy. I’m certain that, from an outsider’s perspective, it might seem like we writers just draw names at random when it comes to who works on what. Occasionally it feels that way, too… mostly because some characters get tossed from writer to writer, depending on schedules and who has time to work on something. Patrick came on the project from the Mass Effect team to pick up characters and plots which the rest of the DA writers had yet to get to (an anxiety-inducing pile of work which seemed to be growing on a daily basis). When he expressed interest in Cole, I had a heart attack that lasted approximately three days, until I realized it was either let him go or remove him from the game—as my schedule is the worst of the lot and my workload never gets lighter.
Eventually I even stopped backseat writing, peering over Patrick’s shoulder with nervously clutched hands, asking how my baby was doing. Patrick, trooper that he is, did not once tell me to go fuck myself.
“So what do you think Blaine wants to happen in season 6? And he replied: Blaine wants to get married, like, yesterday. Darren Criss G4 (X)”
For some reason Klaine/Blaine/Darren stans are holding up the above quote as proof that Darren is more invested in Klaine than Chris is, and there are even some who are using that quote to say that that somehow makes Darren a better advocate for Gay rights and Equality and that he ‘understands’ more than Chris.
Firstly, Darren is straight. He will never and, in fact, can never understand more than Chris, what it means to be Gay. Period. I personally am still extremely angry with him for daring to answer that tweet from the LGBTQ person during one of the Glee live Chats, where he told the person that ‘Being Gay is Awesome Man’. I could not believe Darren’s ignorance, or his presumption to speak for a Gay man. The question was directed at Ryan Murphy.
(Also, if Chris, a gay man, says that something referencing the portrayal of a Gay couple is problematic, then we should be listening to that and not trying to shout it down.)
Secondly, I don’t get how Darren’s answer to ‘What does Blaine want to happen in season 6’ means that he is more invested and supportive in and of Klaine.
Darren was asked about what his character thinks, not what he thinks, yet once again the comments resulting from his statement reveal just how much of a problem that many Klaine/Blaine fans have in not being able to detach actor/actor opinion, from character/character story..
Everyone knows that Blaine wants to get married like yesterday, it’s Blaine, so asking Darren what Blaine wants is naturally going to get this reply, because this is what his character wants. It is not an opinion, it’s canonical fact. If you asked Chris the same question, ‘What does Blaine want?’ Chris would say the same as Darren, ‘Blaine wants to get married, like yesterday’.
Chris get’s asked what he thinks about Klaine, and then gets attacked by klaine/blaine fans every time, even though he says the same thing every time, so they already know the answer and it now is simply obvious that they are just wanting to be able to spark up negativity for Chris whenever something good is happening in the Colfer fandom, because their timing is always impeccable. They already know Chris’ opinion, yet they still try to use it to create wank, and they twist it all, or take bits of his comments out of context, ignoring the parts that actually show that Chris is not against Klaine, but just against certain things happening before he feels that the characters are ready for them to happen. It is pathetic TBH. (If it hadn’t been this, they would have desperately searched, twisted and invented other reasons to try to pull Chris down because, how dare Chris prove that he is totally dedicated to his fans and is extremely appreciative of their love and support and how dare he take time out to show his fans just how much he is grateful to them. How dare he show just how sweet, genuine, down to earth, kind, gentle, dorky, and compassionate a human being he truly is)
If these Klaine/Blaine/Darren fans want to say that Darren is this perfect person for supporting Klaine and Blaine, and that he knows just how to appreciate fan’s support, they have got to start asking Darren for his opinion on the Klaine relationship and marriage, or are they too afraid that the answer may be the same as Darren gave previously when asked for his opinion, which was that he didn’t want Kurt and Blaine getting engaged (let alone married), because he thought that they were way too young and immature, and more recently when he was asked about his opinion of his character and he declared that Blaine is a whiny bitch.
Funny that both Chris and Darren have effectively said the same things when asked for their opinions on Klaine yet Chris receives constant and extreme harassment and hate for stating it, and Darren either has his comments swept to one side and ignored, or people who previously made hate posts about Chris when Chris voiced his opinion, then make posts saying, actually I feel Darren is right.
Can no one see the hypocrisy, the double standard, the agenda? Because all three things are blatantly and annoyingly and laughingly obvious to me.(via theawesomenessthatischriscolfer)
